Saye leads ‘Dogs past Flagler and into Region title match

Wingate University senior right-side hitter Gabby Saye tied a career high with 19 kills Friday night, leading the top-seeded and 14th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs to a 3-1 victory over fifth-seeded Flagler College in the semifinals of the 2025 NCAA Southeast Regional volleyball tournament in Cuddy Arena. Wingate won by scores of 21-25, 25-21, 27-25 and 25-14 to improve to 30-1 overall, pushing the winning streak to 29 while advancing to the region title match for the 11th time since 2009. The Saints end their season at 22-13.

- Flagler scored four of the next five, taking a 23-19 lead on a Middlebrooks kill

- A Saye kill and Mas block gave the Bulldogs an early 5-2 lead

- Wingate used a 5-0 run to take an 18-9 lead, getting a Saye kill and Morland block in the spurt
- Kills from Morland and Van Heyst put the 'Dogs on top 20-10
- Kills from Morland and Vavao made it 23-13
- A Flagler error made it 24-14; Van Heyst ended the match with an ace

- Wingate is back in action Saturday in the region title match at 4 p.m. in Cuddy Arena
