What They Are Saying
Wingate fifth-year senior
Jess Brown
"This week was a great start to the season for the team. We have all put in a lot of work since coming back to school and it has paid off. The greens this week were tough…I'm proud of the team for staying mentally strong and keeping a positive attitude. I'm proud of my two teammates Amely and Thalía who played very well too, who finished tied for second and tied for fifth.
I played solidly this week. I was feeling the nerves being the first tournament back, but I'm pleased with how I overcame them and played good golf. I'd like to thank my coach
JD Lamm; he as always was brilliant. It was great to have his support throughout this week. It's a great start to the year and I hope we can continue this next week in Hilton Head. Go Bulldogs!"
Wingate graduate student
Hailey McLaughlin
"I am so proud of how the girls played this week. We came into this tournament with limited practice time, but we made sure to take advantage of every minute we did have and it paid off. All of us are very driven and motivated this season in preparation to hopefully make nationals. This is a great way to start our journey."
"The course may not have been in the best shape, but we listened to coach
JD (Lamm) and didn't complain about it. Mentally, we stayed strong and I think that was the key to the team's victory."
