#19 Wingate rides dominant second half to 15-7 win at Lenoir-Rhyne

Hickory, N.C.----The 19th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs outscored Lenoir-Rhyne 9-2 in the second half Saturday afternoon en route to a 15-7 victory in South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse action. The Bulldogs improve to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the SAC, while the Bears fall to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in league play.

FIRST QUARTER

- Ellie Campbell's goal tied it 23 seconds later
- Watson struck again at the 11:11 mark to put the 'Dogs on top 2-1
- A Hannah Thomas goal 19 seconds later tied it at two
- Wilegeroth scored the final two goals of the frame, with the second coming at the 5:18 mark to make it 4-2

SECOND QUARTER

- Campbell scored 95 seconds into the frame to pull LR within one
- Millard scored with 6:16 left in the half to stretch the advantage back to two
- Thomas and Kirra Olson scored in a 90-second span to tie it at five
- Fuchs scored with 1:33 remaining in the half, giving Wingate a 6-5 lead

THIRD QUARTER

- The 'Dogs scored the first five goals of the half, starting with Millard's goal off a Fuchs assist six minutes in
- Watson scored off a Millard assist 29 seconds later to make it 8-5
- Watson struck again off a Fuchs assist with five minutes remaining to stretch the lead to four
- Wilgeroth scored 18 seconds later to put the Bulldogs in double figures
- Higgins scored off a Blakely assist at the 3:16 mark to put the 'Dogs on top 11-5
- Olson's goal at the 1:21 mark cut the lead to five heading to the fourth

FOURTH QUARTER

- Scherer scored four minutes into the final frame to push the lead back to six
- She struck again two minutes later to make it 13-6
- Blakely scored off a Scarfogliero assist with 6:34 to go, giving Wingate a 14-6 cushion
- Scarfogliero scored the final goal of the day off a McCabe assist with 2:01 remaining
