Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs stayed perfect in league play Wednesday afternoon, rolling to a pair of victories over Carson-Newman University in South Atlantic Conference softball action. Wingate won the opener 9-1 in five innings, while prevailing 12-4 in five innings in game two to improve to 15-11 overall and 6-0 in league play. The Eagles fall to 17-9 overall and 4-2 in league play. The 'Dogs move to 46-8 in league play over the past three seasons. Wingate has now won nine straight against Carson-Newman.

GAME ONE | WINGATE 9 CARSON-NEWMAN 1 (5 Innings)

- Syerra Rogers led off the inning with a solo homer to make it 7-1

- Wingate answered with two runs in the fifth to end it
- Walks from Burns and Hobgood, along with a McFadden single loaded the bases
- Huneycutt's two-run single made the final margin 9-1

WRAPUP

- Thomas got the win, moving to 8-4 on the year
- She allowed a run on six hits in five innings, striking out five without a walk
- Lorelei Spradlin took the loss, allowing nine runs on 12 hits in four innings of work

- The Bulldogs scored twice in the bottom of the frame to end it
