Bulldogs claim weekend series with doubleheader split at Emory & Henry

Emory, Va.----The Emory & Henry Wasps prevailed 8-6 in game one of Sunday's South Atlantic Conference baseball doubleheader, while the Wingate University Bulldogs won the finale 12-9 to claim the weekend series. Wingate moves to 25-24 overall and 15-15 in the SAC, while the Wasps go to 17-33 overall and 8-22 in league play.

- The Wasps had two of the three extra-base hits; the 'Dogs had the lone homer

- Singles from Dixon and Sessoms, along with a walk loaded the bases with two outs
- Hart drew a bases-loaded walk to cut the lead to one
- Evans followed with a two-run double to put the Bulldogs on top 7-6

SIXTH INNING

- Courville and Ishmael started the inning with back-to-back singles
- Courville scored on an error as Ishmael stole second to extend the lead to two
- A pair of walks loaded the bases
- Hart's three-run single to left center gave the Bulldogs an 11-6 advantage

SEVENTH INNING

- Ishmael led off the inning with his second homer of the game to give WU a six-run cushion
- A two-run double from Jacob Bebber in the bottom of the frame made it 12-8
- Hensley added an RBI double to make it a three-run game
- Charlie Carpenter entered the game and struck out the final batter of the contest to secure the win

WRAPUP

- Brian Boone got the win, allowing three runs on three hits in 2 1/3 innings, striking out one
- Williams took the loss, allowing a run on a hit in one-third of an inning
