Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs picked up another doubleheader sweep Wednesday afternoon, taking two games against Newberry College in South Atlantic Conference softball action. Wingate won the opener 10-2 in five innings, while prevailing 5-2 in game two to improve to 29-17 overall and 16-4 in the SAC. The Wolves fall to 21-26 overall and 9-11 in league play.
GAME ONE | WINGATE 10 NEWBERRY 2 (5 Innings)

- Scott's two-run single gave Wingate a 3-2 lead

- Hobgood and Brooks started the frame with singles, while Stevens was hit by a pitch to load the bases
- Scott drew a bases-loaded walk to plate the first run
- Kramer added a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to four
- Burns lined a two-run double to right center to put the 'Dogs on top 8-2
FIFTH INNING
- Hobgood started the frame with a single, then moved to second on a Brooks walk
- Stevens then laid down a sacrifice bunt, with an error on the play allowing Hobgood to score
- Kramer ended the game with a sacrifice fly, plating Brooks to make the final margin 10-2

- Thomas got the win, moving to 14-6 on the year
- She allowed two runs on five hits in five innings of work, striking out two without a walk
