Rock Hill, S.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs have been picked second in the men's soccer presason coach's poll, which was released Tuesday morning. In addition, Camilo Salazar, Jude Enwhistle and Luka Srzic have been named SAC Players to Watch.
Lenoir-Rhyne is the preseason favorite, collecting two first-place votes, while Wingate is second, hauling in three first-place votes. Coker is third, also notching three first-place votes, while Mars Hill is fourth with one first-place vote. LMU is fifth, with Anderson, Emory & Henry and Catawba.
The Bulldogs went 6-8-1 last season, with a 4-7 mark in league play. Prior to that, Wingate captured the regular season SAC titles in 2022 and 2023 and earning NCAA Tournament bids. The 'Dogs picked up a pair of PK wins in the 2022 tourney, advancing to the third round of super region 2.
The Bulldogs open up the season with the first four games away from Pride Park. Wingate is in Greenwood, S.C. Sept. 5 and Sept. 7, facing Rollins and Florida Tech to open the season at Lander University. Wingate then travels to Auburn-Montgomery on Sept. 11, before opening league play Sept. 13 at Tusculum. The 'Dogs play their first home game Saturday, Sept. 27 against Lenoir-Rhyne at 7:30 p.m.
