Bethlehem, Pa.----The No. 3 Wingate University women's cross country team finished eighth in the Paul Short Run College Gold Division Friday. The Bulldogs posted 242 points to claim their best-ever team finish in the prestigious event. Lehigh University hosted the 52nd annual Paul Short Run presented by ASICS on the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course. The PSR is the largest NCAA XC meet in the nation.

Liberty won the meet with 115 points, while Penn finished second with 144 points. The rest of the top five included Yale, UMass Amherst and Army West Point. This event holds special meaning for Wingate director of cross country and track and field
Matt van Lierop, as Lehigh University is his alma mater.

Jacqueline Sanchez finished 29th with her time of 21:22.4
- A Cal State Stanislaus transfer, Sanchez was making her first WU appearance Friday

Evie Brooks was 33rd, thanks to her 6K time of 21:26.7
- Sophomore
Karlijn Mesman finished 43rd with her time of 21:34.8

Maud Lambotte rounded out Wingate's top five
- Keshaw ran a 21:42.3 6K Friday, while Lambotte posted a time of 21:57.3

- The Bulldogs had three runners in the Open 6K top 35 with two in the top 20

Baia Touza finished in 15th place with a time of 22:07.8

Both Wingate teams will compete in the Queens University of Charlotte Royals XC Challenge Friday, October 9 at McAlpine Creek Park. The Bulldogs conclude the regular season Friday, October 16, venturing to the University of Virginia for the Panorama Farms Invitational.
