Wingate’s El Hafyan receives SAC Athlete of the Week laurels

Rock Hill, S.C.----Wingate University junior student-athlete Assiya El Hafyan (Casablanca, Morocco) is this week's South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, league officials announce from corporate headquarters. El Hafyan receives this distinction for the first time in her career.
 
El Hafyan won the high jump at the JDL ASICS Sound Invitational Saturday, thanks to her NCAA provisional leap of 1.67 meters. El Hafyan posted a mark of 1.70 meters at the JDL Camel City Distance event earlier this month. Her early February mark is the best effort in the SAC this season.

Up Next for the Wingate indoor track and field teams
 
The next event for Wingate is the Saucony Battle for Boston Sunday, February 22. This last-chance meet is hosted by Boston University. The South Atlantic Conference meet starts February 28 at JDL. Presently, the Wingate men are No. 2 in the USTFCCCA indoor power rankings. The Bulldog women are No. 11 in the USTFCCCA indoor power rankings.
