Bulldogs roll to 92-62 Senior Day victory over Wasps to push winning streak to four

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs celebrated Senior Day in style, cruising to a 92-62 victory over Emory & Henry in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball action in Cuddy Arena. Wingate wins its fourth straight, improving to 18-8 overall and 13-7 in the SAC, while the Wasps fall to 6-20 overall and 4-16 in league play.

KEY STATS

- The Bulldogs set season highs for points, field goal percentage, field goals made, three-point percentage and assists
- Wingate shot 62 percent from the field, going 10-for-15 from three-point range (67 percent)
- E&H shot 39 percent from the field, connecting on nine-of-28 from deep (32 percent)
- The 'Dogs held a 32-27 rebounding advantage; the Wasps had a 14-9 edge in second-chance points
- Wingate piled up 28 assists on 37 field goals
- The Bulldogs scored 30 points off 20 Emory & Henry turnovers

KEY BULLDOGS

- Laura Montiel had 16 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals, going seven-for-eight from the field and two-for-two from deep
- Laney Beale added 14 points, six assists and four steals, going seven-for-seven from the field
- Maggie Shorma had 14 points on six-of-eight shooting, adding four assists and a steal
- Kyleigh Bacon contributed 12 points and eight boards
- Bethel Ekperigha had eight points, four assists, three boards and two steals, going three-for-three from the field
- Bree Hughes added eight points, two rebounds and two assists
- Anasia Harvey registered six points and a pair of rebounds

FIRST QUARTER

- Threes from Montiel, Shorma and Chi'Nya Isaac helped WU race out to an 11-0 lead
- Ekperigha and Alexandra Merceron added triples to make it 17-3 at the 3:46 mark
- Back-to-back Harvey layups and an Ekperigha three stretched the lead to 19
- A Julie Matheson triple cut the Wingate lead to 16 with 16 seconds left
- Shorma's three 10 seconds later put the 'Dogs on top 29-10

SECOND QUARTER

- Montiel's layup capped a 6-0 run that gave Wingate a 40-18 advantage midway through the frame
- A Rhyan Harris jumper with three minutes left cut the lead to 16
- Two Beale buckets and a Shorma layup pushed it back to 22 at 48-26
- Buckets from Bacon and Montiel in the final 50 seconds gave Wingate a 52-28 halftime lead

THIRD QUARTER

- Two more Beale buckets and a Bacon layup gave the Bulldogs a 58-30 lead two minutes in
- Back-to-back Beale layups put the 'Dogs on top 64-31 at the 5:37 mark
- Hughes buried a triple with 2:39 remaining to extend the lead to 35
- A Tori West three in the final minute made it 74-45 heading to the fourth

FOURTH QUARTER

- Shivers knocked down a three just over a minute in to push the lead back to 30
- Back-to-back Shorma layups gave Wingate an 83-49 advantage at the 6:11 mark
- A Hughes layup with 3:52 left gave the 'Dogs a 35-point cushion
- Addie Long's layup made it 91-54 with three minutes to go
- The Wasps got no closer than 30 the rest of the way
