Wingate’s Lamprecht named to USA Triathlon’s U25 Development team

Colorado Springs, Colo.----Wingate University sophomore Isaac Lamprecht (Fairfield, Pa.) was recently named to USA Triathlon's prestigious Mallow U25 Development team, as revealed in USA Triathlon's 2026 USA Triathlon Development Teams

An exercise science major, Lamprecht has proven his worth to both the Bulldogs and USA triathlon in recent years. For the Bulldogs, Lamprecht has been dominant. This dominance included three in-season wins this past fall season, one being the MACTC Draft-Legal Conference Championship title. For USA Triathlon, he has two international podiums at Junior Europe Triathlon Cups Holten and Riga and a 2025 World Triathlon Junior Championships start this past October.

The Mallow U25 development team consists of the United States' top rising triathlon elites as they pursue eventual National Team selection. Specifically, the Mallow U25 Development Team is for triathletes competing in World Triathlon events such as Continental Cups - an elite international stage of draft legal competition. This qualification provides support for travel and racing expenses, racing and training equipment and even access to USA Triathlon training camps.

This is Lamprecht's second year qualifying for the Mallow U25 development team. He has great opportunity and gratitude arising from his second consecutive qualification.

Isaac Lamprecht's selection thoughts

I was privileged to be able to spend some time diving into Isaac's perspective on his recent qualification to the Mallow team, what it took to achieve such a feat and how he is processing his recent accomplishments.

First, Lamprecht told me what it took to reach such an elite status. "I had to go to Europe and stand on the podium in at least two Junior Continental Cups." Lamprecht says. "I was able to podium with two second-place finishes at European Junior Cups in Netherlands and Latvia this past summer."

Turning toward his Bulldog beginnings, he credited his Wingate experience helping him translate to international success. "Having this strong group of guys around you to push you on strong and weak days is an invaluable experience," Lamprecht says. He shared about the group environment that contributed most to his development. "For me, it comes down to the group. When they push you day in and day out, you make more progress."

As a student-athlete, Lamprecht finds his greatest challenges beyond the training sessions. "It's more challenging to balance the academic requirements necessary to be on the team," he says. "The difficult part comes in the academic requirements and time management skills between training, class, studying, eating and sleeping."

When asked on his preference of racing, Lamprecht expressed gratitude to toe the line no matter the circumstances, "The collegiate races and world triathlon races are both races - regardless of the reason behind them," he says. "For me, it's less about differentiating between race importance and more about appreciating the opportunities as they come."

Though he expressed gratitude and importance on racing in the Bulldog blue and gold, he takes great responsibility when putting on the Stars and Stripes of Team USA, "I would have never expected to make it to the World Championships back when I started triathlon at age 12," Lamprecht says. "It's not something that you can take for granted. It's important to me that the work I've done to this point has justified USA Triathlon's investment in me to get more race opportunities."

What They Are Saying
Wingate head coach Nick Radkewich

"Isaac came into the program with plans to develop from training with the Bulldog squad and taking advantage of the facilities Wingate offers. He has combined that with hard work in the classroom to lead the team during the Fall Conference Championship season, including three individual wins and the MACTC Draft Legal title. I expect that with the assistance of Mallow U25 Development Team funding, Isaac will have a great year racing internationally, especially in Europe during the summer break. We look forward to his competing this spring with the men's national championship March 27-28 in Gulfport, Mississippi, when they defend their 2025 title."
