Kathryn McCabe has been named the South Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday afternoon. McCabe earns Player of the Week accolades for the first time this season and fourth time in her career.
McCabe anchored a strong defensive effort for the Bulldogs, in a tight 11-10 setback against third-ranked Florida Southern in the season opener. McCabe and the 'Dogs held the Mocs five goals below their season average from 2025.
McCabe piled up six ground balls, four draw controls and five caused turnovers on the day for the Bulldogs.
McCabe was named the 2025 SAC Defensive Player of the Year, while earning IWLCA third team All-American accolades. She led the SAC in CTs and draw controls, while ranking in the top 20 in the nation in both categories.
Wingate is back in action Sunday, hosting Lee at 1 p.m.
