Bulldogs ride six-run 10th inning to 13th straight victory

Mount Olive, N.C.----The University of Mount Olive scored four times in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the game at eight Tuesday evening, but the visiting Wingate University Bulldogs answered with six runs in the top of the 10th inning en route to a 14-8 victory in NCAA Division II baseball action. Wingate wins its 13th straight game, improving to 19-4 overall, while the Trojans fall to 9-12 on the season.

FIRST INNING

- Courville followed with a two-run single to make it 3-0

SECOND INNING

- A Benamati walk started the second
- He scored on Groppuso's RBI single to push the lead to four
- Groppuso then stole third and scored on a wild pitch to make it 5-0

THIRD INNING

- McCammon was hit by a pitch, then moved to second on a Courville walk
- A Benamati sacrifice fly plater McCammon to put the 'Dogs on top 6-0

SIXTH INNING

- Lane McLean's two-run homer got Mount Olive on the board in the sixth

SEVENTH INNING

- Courville got things started with a two-out single, then went to third on a David Sessoms single
- Courville scored on a passed ball to make it 7-2

EIGHTH INNING

- A Dawson Ables two-run single pulled Mount Olive within three

NINTH INNING

- Powell reached on an error to start the ninth
- He scored on Courville's RBI single to make it 8-4
- UMO scored four in the bottom of the frame to tie it
- McLean was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to start the scoring
- A Jakhari Howard two-run double pulled Mount Olive within a run
- Toney induced a double play, but the tying run scored on the play
- He got out of the inning with a strikeout, stranding the winning run on third base

TENTH INNING

- A Hart walk and Benamati single started the 10th inning, with Benamati then stealing second

- Evans then drew a walk and stole second, while Powell was intentionally walked to load the bases
