Sandberg leads Wingate to two first team All-American swims at NCAAs Thursday night

Evansville, Ind.----Wingate University freshman Mathilda Sandberg claimed two first team All-American trophies at the NCAA Division II swimming and diving national championships Thursday night. This year's event is being contested inside the Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville, Indiana.
 
Individually, Sandberg took third place in the 100 Butterfly with her bronze-medal time of 53.56. She joined teammates Nina Azirovic, Natalia Dwojak and Vera Karlsson to finish third in the Thursday night-concluding 400 Medley Relay with a time of 3:38.97.

Men's 400 Medley Relay
 
The Wingate men finished ninth with a time of 3:10.99, earning honorable mention All-American laurels. The Bulldogs missed the podium by 0.15 seconds. Team members include senior Ney Chagas Filho, freshman Artur Vilela de Queiroz and juniors Mike Topchanalis and Anton Witzell.
 
Men's 200 Freestyle
 
Sophomores Yassine Sebbata and Tymofii Chemeryk claimed honorable mention All-American laurels, finishing 10th and 14th, respectively. Sebbata touched with a time of 1:35.46, while Chemeryk followed with his time of 1:36.45.
 
Men's 100 Butterfly
 
Topchanalis grabbed an honorable mention All-American team membership Thursday night, finishing 11th with his time of 47.15.
 
Team scores
 
The Wingate men are eighth with 92 points. Drury leads the way with 253 points, followed closely by Tampa with 244 markers. The Bulldog women are ninth with 103 points. Nova Southeastern tops the charts with 265 points.
