Bulldogs pick up second ranked win of the weekend with split against #19 Shippensburg

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs notched their second victory over a top-20 team of the weekend on Sunday afternoon, prevailing 8-2 over Shippensburg University in game two of Sunday's NCAA Division II softball doubleheader. The Raiders prevailed 13-6 in game one on Sunday. The Bulldogs move to 10-6 overall, while Shippensburg goes to 3-1 on the season.

- Shippensburg out-hit Wingate 19-9
- The Raiders had seven of the eight extra-base hits with two of the three homers
- Shippensburg left 11 on base; the Bulldogs stranded seven

- Dani Hayward got the win, allowing six runs on nine hits in seven innings, striking out five

- A Tillman walk, followed by singles from McFadden and Higginbotham loaded the bases
- Murray came through with a two-out, three-run double to right center to make it 6-2
- Dudley followed with an RBI double to stretch the lead to five
- Patterson followed with another RBI double, putting the 'Dogs on top 8-2

WRPAUP

- Robbins got the win, allowing two hits in four shutout frames, striking out six
- Thomas got the save, allowing two runs on six hits in three innings, striking out two
- Mya Parkinson took the loss, allowing three runs on four hits in three innings

- Wingate is back in action Tuesday, traveling to USC Aiken for a 3 p.m. start
