Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs had three pitchers combine for 14 strikeouts Friday evening en route to a 4-2 victory over Newberry College in South Atlantic Conference baseball action at Ron Christopher Stadium and Plyler Athletic Field. The 'Dogs improve to 29-11 overall and 19-6 in the SAC, while the Wolves fall to 23-17 overall and 16-9 in league play. The victory gives 2021 National Coach of the Year
Jeff Gregory his 500th career win as a head coach, with all of those wins coming at Wingate.

- An RBI double from Luke Compton got the Wolves on the board
- Compton then scored when Jomar Lugo got thrown out stealing to give Newberry a 2-1 lead
FIFTH INNING
- Benamati drew a one-out walk
- He scored on Groppuso's RBI double to right center to tie it
- McCammon followed with a two-run homer to right to put the 'Dogs on top 4-2
SIXTH INNING
- Two singles and a walk loaded the bases for the Wolves with one out
- Harvey got a popout and then struck out his final batter of the night to leave the bases loaded
WRAPUP
- Harvey got the win, moving to 8-0 on the year
- He allowed two runs on four hits in six innings, striking out eight
- Starnes worked a 1-2-3 ninth to earn his first save, notching a strikeout
- Jacob Clark took the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings, striking out three
