The Palmer Cup began in 1997, with the USA holding an all-time record of 15-13-1 in the previous 28 matches. Each team, USA and international, has 24 golfers, with 12 men and 12 women apiece. The action starts Friday morning with mixed four balls, with foursomes Saturday morning and mixed foursomes later on Saturday. Singles competition will take place on Sunday.

Bochaton is one of the most successful players in the history of Division II women's golf. In her two years at Wingate, the two-time SAC Player of the Year has piled up 13 victories in 26 tournaments, with 25 top-10 showings and 22 top-five finishes. Those victories include back-to-back SAC Tourney titles and a 13-shot victory at the 2026 NCAA D2 national championships (68-67-68).

On Thursday, Bochaton was named the SAC Athlete of the Year. She is one of 11 finalists for the Honda D2 Athlete of the Year award for the second straight year. Bochaton finished in the top four in all 13 tournaments this year, while leading the #1 Bulldogs to 10 titles in those 13 events including the SAC and regional championships. The 'Dogs also won the stroke play portion at nationals by 21 shots and advanced to the national semifinals.

Bochaton broke her own Wingate and SAC record with her 70.7 stroke average this season. She has been the top-ranked player in Division II every week of her career, while helping the 'Dogs sit atop the team rankings all of 2025-26. Of her 79 career rounds at Wingate, Bochaton has shot par or better 58 times, including 27 rounds in the 60s. She has the best 11 rounds in program history.

ABOUT THE PALMER CUP

In 1997 Arnold Palmer was approached by the Golf Coaches Association of America regarding lending his name to an international collegiate event between the United States and Great Britain and Ireland. The event would use a Ryder Cup-style format and bring together the top eight collegiate players in the United States against their counterparts from GB&I. Palmer, a former collegiate player and coach himself, has been called America's greatest Ambassador for the game of golf. With his blessing and the support of the Arnold Palmer Golf Company, the inaugural event was played at his own Bay Hill Club in Florida in June 1997. "I had long thought that an international competition such as this would enrich the lives of young men through the universal bond of the great game of golf," said Mr. Palmer.
