McCormick, S.C.----The Wingate University women's golf team put together a stellar final stretch at the 2026 Savannah Lakes Women's Invitational hosted by Lander University at the Monticello Golf Club. The Bulldogs bounced back strong after last week's outing to secure a tie for third-place team finish at 21-over par.  
 
The Bulldogs showed impressive consistency and progression as the tournament unfolded, turning in team rounds of 10-over, seven-over and a closing four-over par to climb the leader board three rungs on the tourney's final day. Wingate's four-over-par 292 matched tournament champion North Georgia for Tuesday's best round.

"Our team showed that they can play with the best teams in the country this week. We improved our score each round…which I think is something you have to do if you want to eventually close out a tournament. We had some very good closing holes today, which helped us pass some teams that were ahead of us at the time. This was our first tournament with a full lineup, so I am looking forward to seeing what we can do this year."
 
Individual Highlights, final round edition
 
Sophomore Ines Marty crowned her tournament with a steady two-over-par 74 in the final round (two birdies), following up on a brilliant two-under-par 70 (four birdies) in round two and a three-over-par 75 (three birdies) opening round as she finished in a tie for 11th place at three-over-par 219.
 
Freshman Gabrielle Duhalde wrapped up a consistent week with a one-over-par 73 final round featuring two birdies, matching her one-over-par opener. She added a two-over-par 74 second round to claim 15th place.
 
Freshman Antonia Emmerson saved her best for last, catching fire with five birdies to card a brilliant two-under-par 70 final round in only her third collegiate round. Combined with rounds of four-over-par 76 and three-over-par 75, she capped off a strong charge to finish tied for 16th.
 
Freshman Juana Milano showed grit all week, adding two birdies in the final round for a three-over-par 75. Coupled with her opening five-over-par 77 and second round four-over-par 76, Milano finished tied for 29th.
 
Up Next for Wingate
 
With a strong top-five team finish in the books and great momentum building down the stretch, the Bulldogs head into the rest of their fall schedule riding high. Next on the Wingate agenda is the LeeAnn Noble Memorial, hosted by the University of North Georgia October 12-13. The annual event is contested at the Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega.
