Wingate drops tough 3-2 match against Fayetteville State

Mount Olive, N.C.----The 18th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs dropped their first match of the season Friday afternoon, falling in a tight 3-2 (25-16, 19-25, 12-25, 25-17 15-9) match against Fayetteville State. The 'Dogs fall to 2-1 on the year, while the Broncos move to 1-0 overall.

- Wingate had 52 kills and 19 errors in 149 attacks, hitting .221
- FSU had 45 kills and 18 errors in 146 swings to hit .185
- The Bulldogs had a 63-57 edge in digs

- FSU scored the final four points in the frame, ending it on a Nicolette Connell ace

- A Woodring block and Kaity Coan ace gave the 'Dogs a 6-2 lead
- A McKenna Miller kill cut the lead to three
- Hejl capped a 6-0 run with a kill to put the Broncos on top 11-9
- A kill and a block from Vittoria Leggiero tied it at 12
- Kills from Mas and Tanner gave the Bulldogs a 14-13 advantage
