Greg Harmon’s ability to shed blocks by opponents led to his 39 tackles on the 2009 season. Harmon tallied a 53-yard interception return for a touchdown against North Greenville. He recorded 11 tackles in a nationally-televised victory over Tusculum (Sept. 24, 2009). The next week, he posted nine stops in a win against Brevard. With timely interceptions and tackling ability, Harmon will be a problem for opposing offenses all year long. Harmon’s teammates elected him a captain for the 2010 season.

In 2008, Harmon was Wingate’s team MVP and defensive MVP. During the 2008 campaign, he was second on the team with 96 tackles. Harmon had a career-best 17 stops at Carson-Newman. He also hit double figures against North Greenville (12) and Tusculum (16). Harmon had a big 33-yard interception return to preserve the TC victory. Also, he registered three sacks and one interception during the 2008 season. In 2007, Harmon had 15 tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss. He had five tackles in a home victory over Brevard. At South View High, Harmon was a member of the football, basketball and tennis teams. He was All-Conference and All-Region two years each in football and basketball. Harmon was a team captain in both sports. He is the son of Gregory and Kohnee Harmon.
