RP Lopez looks to conclude his Bulldog career on a high note. In 2009, he was fourth in the SAC in kick scoring with 46 points. Lopez was second in the SAC with 40 extra points. Only Carson-Newman’s Carlos Lopez (67) nailed more PATs than RP Lopez. On the 2009 Wingate individual scoring charts, Lopez was second to Vince Jordan (72 points). Lopez hit two-of-four field goals on the season. He hit a 27-yarder against West Georgia and a 26-yarder versus Lenoir-Rhyne. The Bulldogs won both games.

In 2008, Lopez hit two-of-three field goals. He converted in victories over UNC Pembroke and Elizabeth City State. Lopez also connected on nine extra points to give him 15 points for the 2008 season. Lopez transferred to Wingate from Troy (Ala.) University. As a student-athlete at Lakeland (Fla.) High School, Lopez was a member of the football and basketball teams. During his career, the Dreadnaughts and head coach Bill Castle won the Florida state football championship in 2004. On the basketball court, Lopez earned team most improved honors his sophomore season. RP is the son of Dr. Raul Lopez and Pam Page.
