Biography

2011-12: Kurie Washington was named to the pre-season All-South Atlantic Conference team, as selected by the league’s sports information directors.

2010-11: Washington led the Bulldogs and ranked ninth in the SAC with 13.6 points per game. The league’s coaches voted her to the All-SAC team. In addition, she earned a spot on the NCCSIA All-State team. She was sixth in the SAC in three-point field goal percentage (40.4), while ranking ninth in the conference in free throw percentage (81.8). Washington reached 1,000 career points in Wingate’s victory at North Greenville.
 
Washington scored double figure points 21 times in 30 games last year, while scoring at least 15 points 12 times. She scored 20 points in Wingate’s victory over Livingstone. Washington hit 13-of-14 free throws to score 20 points in the win over Lincoln Memorial.
 
The McDowell High School product scored a season-high 30 points in the victory over King. Her 18 points on five-of-five shooting from the field and eight-of-eight shooting from the free throw line led the ‘Dogs past 2010 regional champions Tusculum. She had a streak of seven consecutive games scoring at least 13 points in the second half of league play, capped by a 16-point performance in Wingate’s win over Mars Hill.
 
2009-10: Washington was named All-SAC and NCCSIA All-State. As a sophomore, she was fourth in the SAC and tops on the Bulldog charts with her 18.1 points per game. She was fifth in the league in free throw percentage (80.8 percent) and three-point field goal percentage (38.9 percent). In addition, Washington was 11th in the SAC in three-point field goals made per game (1.30) and 20th in rebounding (5.1 rebounds per game).

In her 27 games, Washington hit double-figure points 25 times. She netted a career-high 32 points in SAC contest against Mars Hill. The next game, Washington made 10-of-15 field goals en route to a 29-point effort at Newberry. She had 20-plus points nine times. Washington averaged 18.8 points per game in SAC contests, the exact same average from her award-winning freshman campaign. 

2008-09: Washington was the 2009 SAC Freshman of the Year. She led first-year SAC players in scoring (15.4 points per game). In SAC games, she averaged 18.8 points per game. In Wingate’s final 10 contests of the season, Washington posted 21.3 points per game. 

In the SAC statistical rankings, Washington was second in free throw percentage (83.9), second in three-point field goal percentage (45.6) and fifth in scoring (15.4 points per game). Her 18.8 points per game average in league play topped the SAC charts. 

The WBCA honored Washington as an honorable mention choice for WBCA Player of the Month laurels in February. She averaged 21-plus points during February. Her 30-point game in a 99-90 victory at Carson-Newman Feb. 28 was the most points by a Wingate player (male or female) during the 2008-09 campaign. 

Wingate was 7-2 overall when Washington scored 20-plus points. She scored 20 or more points in seven of Wingate’s final 12 regular season games. The Bulldogs won all seven of those contests. In addition to her Freshman of the Year distinction, Washington was named to the five-member SAC All-Freshman team. 

High School: Washington was a three-time all-conference and two-time all-state performer at McDowell High School. She was also named the team MVP her junior and senior year, while leading the team to two conference and sectional championships. Washington led the conference in scoring her final two seasons at McDowell. She was also an all-conference performer for the volleyball and track & field teams. Washington was born December 10, 1989. Kurie is the daughter of Dean and Marie Conley.
