Biography
2011-12: Simone Rutledge was named to the pre-season All-South Atlantic Conference team, as selected by the league’s sports information directors.
2010-11: Rutledge was second on the Bulldog team charts with her 10.2 points per game. She led Wingate with 6.7 rebounds per game. Rutledge was 19th on the 2010-11 SAC scoring charts and 10th on the league’s rebounding list. She hit 47.8 percent of her field goals, placing her fifth on the SAC’s individual field goal percentage ranking.
Rutledge had 15 points and 14 rebounds in a first-semester victory at North Greenville. She recorded three double-doubles in her first year in the Bulldog blue-and-gold; Wingate won all three games. Rutledge had a season-high 18 points in a league contest at Lenoir-Rhyne. She added 10 rebounds to her statistics ledger in the road victory.
Previous School: Rutledge joined the Wingate program as a transfer from Tennessee Tech, where she lettered two seasons. As a sophomore, she averaged 3.4 points per game and 4.2 rebounds per game in 29 contests (15 starts). As a freshman, she shared the team’s Most Improved Player Award. She played in 26 games (one start) in her first season at TTU.
High School: Rutledge helped Southwest DeKalb win a region and state (4A) championship in 2008. She played basketball and volleyball for head coach Kathey Walton at Southwest DeKalb. During her basketball career, she earned most improved and MVP honors at different times. Rutledge averaged nine points and nine rebounds as a senior. An academic honor roll student, Simone is the daughter of Angela Rutledge.
