Austin Lowe started at left guard for the 2010 Bulldog O-Line during the team’s SAC championship season. In 2010, the Bulldogs were second in the SAC in passing offense (332.7 yards per game) and total offense (443.3 yards per game). In the last three years, Lowe and his mates have blocked for 15 100+ yard performances by Wingate running backs. Wingate graduate Nelson Woods (’11) rushed for 1000 yards for the third time in his career last year. A Capital One Academic All-America® candidate, Lowe is enrolled in Wingate’s Master of Accounting program this fall. He is a pre-season All-SAC pick in 2011.

In 2009, Lowe was an Academic All-District III team member (picked by CoSIDA). The WU offense averaged 33.6 points per game, second on the SAC scoring offense charts. By the numbers, Wingate recorded 241.1 passing yards per game, 154.2 rushing yards per game and 395.3 total offense yards per game in 2009. In 2008, Lowe and the ‘Dogs were second in the SAC (and ninth in the NCAA) in passing offense with 238.4 yards per game. Lowe was a redshirt in 2007.

Lowe played three seasons at West Rowan. A varsity O-Line starter as a senior, Lowe earned the Coaches Award for Achievement. His final season, Lowe was All-Conference and All-County. A Shrine Bowl top 100 candidate, he was picked to play in the N.C. East-West All-Star game. In the classroom, Lowe was an honor graduate and scholar-athlete selection at West Rowan. He was a member of the WRHS National Honor Society and the Latin Club. A SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll student and a member of the Wingate Academic top 10, Austin is the son of John and Donna Lowe.
