Buster Smith saw action in seven games for the 2010 SAC champion Bulldogs. He made 10 total tackles and notched two tackles for loss. Smith had three solo stops in Wingate’s huge SAC victory at Carson-Newman (Oct. 9, 2010). In his first season for the Bulldogs, Smith had three tackles each against North Greenville (Sept. 5, 2009) and Brevard (Oct. 3, 2009). He added a single stop versus Newberry (Oct. 17, 2009). Smith joined the Wingate family as a transfer from Western Carolina.

While at Ragsdale, Smith earned four varsity letters in football. He tallied 182 total tackles in his career, including 149 solo stops and 7.5 sacks. He led Ragsdale in tackles and sacks during his senior season. Smith earned many awards, including All-Conference and All-County. He was a member of the football, basketball and baseball teams at Ragsdale, serving as a team captain in each sport his final season. Smith is the son of Kim Smith, Sr. and Scarlett Smith.
