Chris Bowden is a pre-season first team All-American, as selected by Lindy’s Magazine and the Beyond Sports Network. A first team All-South Atlantic Conference performer last year, Bowden was named first team All-Super Region 2 by Don Hansen. The 2012 team captain was a Daktronics All-Super Region 2 second team choice. As a junior, Bowden recorded 1,064 yards receiving on 76 receptions. His nine touchdowns on the season give him a total of 26 for his career, only one touchdown shy of the school record. Bowden led the SAC in receiving yards per game and touchdown catches per game. He was second in receptions per game and finished eighth in total purpose yards per game.
 
Bowden had a career-high 156 receiving yards against Mars Hill with two touchdown catches and also recorded two more two-touchdown performances against Catawba and Tusculum on the season. He enters his senior year fourth on the Bulldog history charts for receiving yards in a career with 2,360. He is also fourth on those charts in receptions in a career with 157 and second in touchdowns with 26.
 
Bowden posted 51 receptions for 935 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2010. He averaged 77.9 receiving yards per game and scored two touchdowns in six of 12 games. Bowden recorded 100+ receiving yards four times. In the NCAA play-off victory over Morehouse, he had seven catches for 106 yards and two scores. Bowden had four catches for 122 yards and two touchdowns against Lenoir-Rhyne. As a true freshman, Bowden posted 30 receptions for 361 yards in 2009. He caught six passes for 58 yards and one touchdown in a wild 50-49 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne. He had two games with four catches and four games with three receptions.

Bowden was a member of the football, basketball and track teams at Mary Persons High. An All-Region selection in football, Bowden broke the school records for receptions (42) and receiving yards (789) his senior season. He received the most improved award in both basketball and football. Chris Bowden is the son of Willie Head and Lisa Bowden. He has four brothers and seven sisters.
