Robert Fletcher was elected one of four team captains for the 2012 Bulldogs. In 2011, Fletcher was ninth on the team with his 53 tackles. He split time between the secondary and linebacker. Fletcher had a season-high nine tackles in a wild victory at UNC Pembroke. Fletcher notched eight stops in Wingate’s home triumph over Carson-Newman. In 2010, he led the Bulldogs with three interceptions. Fletcher was third on the defense with a total of 87 tackles (43 solo) as he was named to the All-SAC team. Fletcher posted four tackles for loss and added seven passes defended, four pass break-ups and one fumble recovery on the season. Fletcher had 11 tackles each against Valdosta State and Lenoir-Rhyne.

In 2009, Fletcher was second in the SAC with 83 tackles. He had three defensive touchdowns (two fumble recoveries, one interception) as the Bulldogs led the SAC in turnover margin (plus-15) in 2009. Fletcher had two interceptions, four pass break-ups, five fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles. He had 11 solo tackles, two forced fumbles and one fumble return for a touchdown in Wingate’s wild 50-49 road victory over Lenoir-Rhyne. In his first game as a Bulldog, Fletcher set a school-record with a 98-yard interception return for a score as Wingate rallied for a 38-17 home victory over West Georgia. He was honored as SAC Defensive Player of the Week following Wingate’s victories over LRU and West Georgia.

Fletcher spent the 2008 campaign as a redshirt for the Bulldogs. He played football, basketball and track for the Lancaster Bruins. A football team captain, Fletcher was All-County his junior and senior seasons on the gridiron. As a senior, he had 32 tackles, three interceptions and 12 pass receptions. His basketball coach was Wingate alumnus Ricardo Priester. Fletcher was a member of the Beta Club at Lancaster. In addition, he was a two-year member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity. Fletcher is the son of Robert Fletcher and Debora Robinson.
