Biography

Garrett Mills will look to fill a starting role for the 2012 Bulldogs. With three senior starters on the 2011 squad, Mills received valuable experience. Mills saw significant minutes against Carson-Newman as the Bulldogs earned a home SAC victory. The Bulldog passing offense (296.9 yards per game) was second on the 2011 SAC charts. During Wingate’s 2010 SAC championship season, Mills saw action in the title-clinching victory at Newberry. He also participated in home triumphs over Mars Hill and Lenoir-Rhyne.
 
In 2010, the Bulldogs were second in the SAC in passing offense (332.7 yards per game) and total offense (443.3 yards per game). In 2009, Mills and the Bulldog O-Line helped Wingate post 33.6 points per game (second on the SAC scoring charts). Wingate’s offense recorded 241.1 passing yards per game, 154.2 rushing yards per game and 395.3 total offense yards per game. Mills was a redshirt for the Bulldogs during the 2008 season.
 
At Forest Hills High School, Mills was a member of the football, basketball and track teams. His football coach was the legendary Johnny Lowery. The Yellow Jacket football team won the conference title his sophomore, junior and senior seasons, making deep runs in the state play-offs each year. A football team captain, Mills was first team All-Rocky River Conference his senior year. He was also a two-time All-Union County performer. Garrett Mills is the son of Bobby and Sandy Mills.
