Biography

Matthew Sierk was voted to the 2012 pre-season All-SAC team by the league’s sports information directors. He converted 34-of-37 extra points last season. With his 37 points, Sierk was second to Chris Bowden (54 points) on the team scoring charts. Sierk hit a 34-yard field goal in Wingate’s wild-and-woolly, come-from-behind road triumph at UNC Pembroke.
 
In 2010, Sierk booted 72 kick-offs for the SAC champion Bulldogs. He averaged 52.3 yards per kick. Sierk played in every game for the NCAA play-off participants. He had three kick-offs for an average of 48.3 yards per kick in 2009. Sierk redshirted in 2008.

At Polk County High School, Sierk played football, basketball and soccer. His football coach was Bruce Ollis. Sierk earned team awards in soccer and basketball, serving as a captain in both sports his senior season. He was all-conference, all-region and all-area in soccer his final campaign. As a junior, Sierk helped the Wolverines win conference and sectional titles in basketball. Matthew is the son of Dave and Shari Sierk. His dad played college basketball.
