Biography

Jarvis Smith earned a starting role in the Wingate secondary during his first Bulldog campaign. Smith was second on the team with his 71 tackles (35 solo, 36 assists). He returned a missed field goal 80 yards for a TD in a victory at Catawba. Smith had one forced fumble (Mars Hill) and one interception (UNC Pembroke) in 2011. He had nine tackles as the Bulldogs rallied for a victory over the UNCP Braves. Smith posted a season-high 11 stops in the Mars Hill contest. He had nine tackles each against Albany State and Catawba.
 
At Joliet Junior College, Smith played two seasons. He was an all-conference and all-region performer. Smith had 71 tackles as a freshman and 82 stops as a sophomore. He led the JJC Wolves in tackles his second season. At Alton High, Smith was all-conference and all-area and the team’s leading tackler as a senior. He was twice the team’s MVP for head coach Joe Hook. Jarvis Smith is the son of Cedric and Patricia Mack.
