Biography

2014: Ryan Forbes won eight matches during his senior season at Wingate…Notched six victories at number five singles…Went 5-3 against SAC opponents…Teamed with Connor Kudrick to compile a 16-9 record at number two doubles…Earned All-SAC doubles honors, going 8-3 against SAC opponents. 

2013: Ryan Forbes won 33 matches for the Bulldogs (15 in singles, 18 in doubles) as a junior. On the singles court, he was 15-7 overall with a 9-3 mark at the number five flight. In doubles, Forbes posted an 18-7 overall ledger with a 16-5 record at the number two position.
 
2012: Forbes collected 11 singles wins and 17 doubles victories as Wingate won the SAC regular season and tournament titles. In singles, he had five wins each at number five and number six singles. Forbes posted a 7-2 mark in SAC singles play. He was 17-9 overall in doubles (with three partners), posting a 13-3 ledger at the number three position.

2011: Forbes played in 11 singles matches, posting an 8-2 record with one match unfinished. His victories included singles wins over players from #12 ranked Georgia College and #29 ranked Anderson (S.C.). In doubles play, he made 13 appearances with a 7-6 record.

HIGH SCHOOL: Forbes joined the Bulldog family from Ardrey Kell High School in Charlotte. Forbes has played competitive tournaments since the age of nine. He has traveled all across the Southeastern U.S. He has participated on USTA Southern Zonals teams and in the USTA Player Development program. Forbes has been ranked in the top 85 in the south in both the 14’s and the 16’s.

On the high school scene, Forbes played four years for the Knights. He played number two singles and number one doubles throughout his career. In his first year, Forbes was the only freshman in the state to qualify for the N.C. state high school championship in singles competition.

During his sophomore year, his team finished second in the state among 4A schools. The Knights advanced to the semifinals his junior season. In the state doubles tennis tournament, Forbes advanced to semifinals his sophomore year and the quarterfinals his junior campaign.

Forbes received the Rookie of the Year Award as a freshman and MVP honors as a junior. He earned multiple conference championships in doubles. Forbes made either all-conference or all-state all four years. Ryan Forbes is the son of Jim and Patty Forbes.
