Biography

2012: Keeley Wood won the individual South Atlantic Conference title and was the runner-up at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional meet, making her the third Wingate individual runner to qualify for the National Meet in the school’s NCAA history. She was named to the Capital One Academic All-District III women’s track & field/cross country team.

Wood is a three-time All-SAC performer and a two-time All-Region pick on the cross country course. She is also a three-year Wingate cross country team MVP. On campus, Wood was The Weekly Triangle editor for the 2012-13 school year.

2011: Wood finished third in the 2011 Food Lion SAC championship meet with a 5K time of 19:26.5. For her efforts, she was named to the All-SAC first team. As a sophomore, she recorded four top-10 finishes and two first-place gold medals. Wood won both Wingate 5K events: the Bulldog Stampede (19:32) and the Pre-SAC Invitational (19:34). She claimed ninth place at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regionals with a 6K time of 22:25. Wood was named to the NCAA Division II All-Academic individual team by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). As a sophomore, she helped lead the local Girls on the Run program at Wingate Elementary School. Wood is a member of the Phi Eta Sigma national honor society.

2010: Wood was an All-SAC first team selection and an All-Freshman team selection in her first year with the Bulldogs. She had four top 25 finishes, including two top-five finishes. Wood won the WU Pre-SAC Invitational and finished third in the Bulldog Stampede 5K. She finished sixth in the SAC Championship meet and 21st in the NCAA Southeast Regional meet. Her fastest 5K time was 19:10 at the WU Pre-SAC Invitational.

Personal: Wood is a member of the Weekly Triangle staff at Wingate. She participates in the honors program. The Phi Eta Sigma honor society member likes to read and craft in her spare time.

High School: Keeley Wood prepped at Southern Lee High School, where she was a two-time state qualifier in cross country during her high school career. She placed sixth in the 800 meters at the 2010 NCHSAA 3A state track championships. She was a four-time Southern Lee MVP in cross country and a three-time MVP in track. Keeley is the daughter of Jimmy Wood and Maureen Farrington.
