2014: Mathu Gibson is entering his fourth year as the Bulldogs’ starting left tackle…Consistently the highest-graded lineman each week…Has allowed the least amount of sacks of any starter over the last two years…Played a pivotal role in Wingate’s successes on offense…An instrumental part of the team’s recent connections with the Boys and Girls Club of Union County, as he assisted in Wingate Football’s efforts to raise close to $3000 at the 2015 spring game…
 
2013: A two-year starter…Had the highest grades on the 2013 Wingate offensive line…Finished the year with a 95 percent assignment grade (667 snaps) and a 99.8 effort grade…Recipient of the prestigious Charlotte Touchdown Club scholarship…WU O-Line helped quarterback Robbie Nallenweg (’14) lead SAC in completions per game (28.1) and completion percentage (70.3)…In come-from-behind 41-33 victory at Tusculum, Gibson battled back from an ankle injury to collect three knockdowns…Did not allow a sack in 34 attempts in the Tusculum contest…
 
2012: Starter for the 2012 Bulldogs…Wingate led the SAC in team passing offense (333.73 yards per game), charting number seven on the NCAA charts in the same category…Helped pave the way for two Bulldog running backs to average four-plus yards per carry…

Personal: Mathu Gibson was named all-conference, all-city, all-county and all-region following his senior season at West Forsyth. Gibson and his teammates blocked for an offense which posted 5000 total yards and 3000 rushing yards in 2010. The East-West All-Star led the WFHS team with 50 knockdown blocks as a senior. Gibson did not allow a sack his senior season. His trophy case includes team MVP honors and all-conference laurels for track. An honor roll student, Mathu is the son of Mathu Gibson, Sr. and Geraldine Gibson.
