Biography
2014-15: Ossian Arvidsson helped lead the Bulldogs in the distance Freestyle and Individual Medley events on both the conference and national level. He posted three top eight performances during the Bluegrass Mountain Conference championship in the 1650 Freestyle (15:53.54, fourth), 500 Freestyle (4:32.26, seventh) and the 400 IM (3:57.18, second). He was All-BMC in these three events. He competed in the NCAA championship in the same events, taking a fifth-place finish and first team All-American honors in the 400 IM with a personal-best time of 3:54.72. In addition, Arvidsson was 16th in the 1650 Freestyle (16:11.73) and 25th in the 500 Freestyle (4:35.35). He received CSCAA All-America Scholar distinction and All-American honors following the NCAA meet. Arvidsson was one of the four men who swam in the 800 Freestyle Relay, breaking a Bulldog team record set in 2009. He is one of the two men who were elected captains for the 2015-16 swim season.
2013-14: Arvidsson swam a career-best 4:40.56 in the 500 Freestyle at the ninth annual SCAD College Invitational in Savannah, Ga. Dec. 5. He opened his season with individual top times at the Quad Meet in Charlotte: 23.25 (50 Freestyle) and 4:47.09 (500 Freestyle).
2012-13: As a true freshman, Arvidsson won the 400 Individual Medley at the 15th annual Bluegrass Mountain Conference Swimming Championships, establishing a new meet record with his time of 3:56.19. Arvidsson won two titles at the BMC meet, as he swam the second leg on Wingate’s victorious 800 Freestyle Relay quartet (6:37.14). He also earned All-BMC honors in the 200 IM (1:52.20). At the NCAA Division II championships, he was All-American in the 800 Freestyle Relay and an honorable mention choice in the 400 IM. At the USC quad, Arvidsson swam the fifth-best 200 Butterfly time in WU history (1:55.84).
