Personal: Sterling Brooks played his high school football for head coach Fritz Hessenthaler at Southeast Guilford. A three-year letter winner and two-year starter at linebacker for the Falcons, Brooks received honorable mention all-conference laurels each of his three years on the varsity. As a senior, Brooks had an interception in the last minute to help set up the winning field goal against higher-ranked Hillside in the first round of the 2012 state play-offs. He also participated in track during the spring season. The son of Lonnie and Olivia Brooks, Sterling Brooks was a member of the National Honor Society and the Tri-M music honor society at Southeast Guilford.
