2016: Daniel Owens was a first team All-SAC selection…Three-year starter…Played a team-high 817 snaps in 2016…Graded out at 86 overall (combining mental, technical and effort grades) with a 98 percent effort grade…Recorded 32 knockdowns in 11 games…Big force as WU offense reached 2498 rushing yards, ranking second in SAC in both rushing and passing offense…Looks to be a key returner for the Bulldogs…Third year on SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll…
 
2015: Owens started in every game for the Bulldogs…697 snaps in 2015…Moved to center prior to season…Had 18 knockdowns while grading at an 85 percent clip through 11 games (combining mental, technical and effort grades)…Academic All-Super Region 2 team (selected by CoSIDA) and SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll…
 
2014: Owens started every game for Wingate as a redshirt freshman…Graded out over 82 percent…Had 23 knockdowns…Made the move from left guard to right guard at the end of the season…Earned a spot on the SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll…

Personal: Daniel Owens was a three-year starter and two-year captain for head coach Keith Fox at Cherryville High School. A two-way starter on the offensive and defensive line, Owens received all-conference honors each of his last three seasons. He was recognized as an All-Gazette first team pick after his senior season. Owens was twice an honorable mention choice. Owens also received the team’s Most Valuable underclassmen award, the team’s Defensive Line MVP and the team’s co-Most Valuable Offensive Linemen during his tenure. Owens was also a standout track and field performer, receiving all-county and all-conference laurels. He earned membership in the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society. Daniel is the son of David and Leslie Owens.
