Biography
2015-16: Leif-Henning Klüver had a huge year, earning All-Bluegrass Mountain Conference honors in seven events (four relays, three individual). Klüver and three teammates won the gold medal in the BMC 800 Freestyle Relay with an NCAA Division II “A” cut time of 6:29.12. Wingate finished second on the BMC team charts. He was an NCAA Division II All-American in the 800 Freestyle Relay as the Bulldogs finished 16th in the season-ending event. Klüver swam three personal-best times at the 2016 NCAA event in Indianapolis, posting collegiate bests in the 100 Backstroke (49.57), the 200 Backstroke (1:47.29) and the 200 Individual Medley (1:48.31). His junior year also included lifetime marks in the 100 Butterfly (50.47, Royal Open) and the 1000 Freestyle (9:38.15, Queens dual meet).
2014-15: Klüver was named Wingate men’s swimming MVP following his sophomore season. He competed at the National Level earning All-America honors and placing in the top 8 in both individual events. He compiled a fourth-place NCAA finish in the 200 Free (1:36.08) and a seventh-place finish in the 500 Free (4:26.83). He also received All-Conference status for his second place 200 Free (1:37.78) and third place 500 Free (4:28.95) finishes at the BMC championship meet. Klüver was part of every relay during Wingate’s NCAA championship competition. He was one of the four men who swam in the 800 Free Relay, breaking a Bulldog team record set in 2009. Klüver received CSCAA Scholar All-America honors for the 2014-15 season.
