Biography

2010: Emily Chavis led the Bulldogs in homers, doubles, slugging percentage and total bases during her junior year at Wingate. She hit .348 with eight homers, 11 doubles, 36 RBI and 32 runs scored. Chavis had a homer, three RBI and two runs scored against Queens. She also homered in her next two games, driving in three runs. Chavis had ahomer and three RBI at Mount Olive. She was two-for-three with two RBI against Tusculum, while hitting a homer and driving in two at Mars Hill. Chavis was two-for-four with two RBI at Carson-Newman.

2009:
Chavis appeared in 50 games for the Bulldogs in 2009, starting in 49 of those. She was second on the team with 36 RBI, while ranking third with nine doubles and fourth with a .432 slugging percentage and 63 total bases. Chavis tied for the team lead with four triples in 2009. She started her season by going two-for-four with a homer and three RBI against St. Andrews. Chavis was two-for-two with a triple and three RBI against Belmont Abbey. She had a homer and three RBI against GCSU. Chavis was three-for-three with two doubles, four RBI and two runs scored against UNC Pembroke.

2008: Chavis batted .288 while collecting 29 RBI and 5 home runs during her freshman season in 2008. The power hitter led the team in doubles (12) and slugging percentage (.492). On her first day of collegiate action, Chavis collected three hits, scored two runs and drove in seven RBI in a doubleheader sweep of St. Andrews.

Personal: Chavis was a member of the softball, basketball and golf teams at Duluth High School. She played with head coach Dawn Marsh, a University of Tennessee Hall of Fame member. Chavis was a two-time all-county softball player and an all-county Scholar Athlete in 2005, and was the team captain in her final two seasons. Chavis played for Mark Chavis and Stacy Franklin on the Home American Falcons travel team, which placed 16th out of 144 teams in the ASA National Championships in 2006. Born on June 23, 1989, Emily is the daughter of Mark and Susan Chavis. She is a Biology major.
