2009: Debra Grijalva was a second team All-SAC selection and first team All-Region choice in her first year at Wingate. Grijalva led the Bulldogs and the SAC with a .413 batting average. She also led the team with eight home runs, 46 RBI and a .711 slugging percentage. Her .490 on-base percentage ranked second in the SAC, while ranking third in RBI and slugging percentage. She was two-for-three with a double and three RBI against Limestone. Grijalva had a homer, two RBI and two runs scored against UNC Pembroke. She was four-for-four with a double, triple, two RBI and two runs scored against Tusculum. Grijalva homered in each game as Wingate swept a doubleheader at Lenoir-Rhyne, driving in four runs on the day while scoring three runs. She was three-for-three with two RBI against LMU. She had two homers and four RBI in the win over Chowan. Grijalva went three-for-four with a triple, homer and five RBI in the SAC tournament win over Catawba.

PERSONAL: Grijalva comes to Wingate from San Jose City College, where she played under coach Debbie Huntze-Rooney and batted .473 with an .822 slugging percentage last season as a sophomore. The San Jose native played her high school ball at Evergreen Valley High School, where she was a shooting guard on the basketball team and a third baseman on the softball team.
