2009: Leyila Myers started 46 games in her junior season at Wingate, hitting .324 on the year. Myers led the team with 16 doubles and 86 total bases, finished second with six homers and a .610 slugging percentage, third with 35 RBI and 37 runs scored and fourth with 46 hits. She tied for the league lead in doubles, while finishing ninth in total bases. Myers drove in six runs in the doubleheader against Belmont Abbey, while also scoring four times. She went three-for-four with a homer and two RBI against GCSU. Myers had four hits, two homers, four RBI and four runs scored in the doubleheader sweep at Lenoir-Rhyne. She had a homer and three RBI against LMU. Myers had a pair of doubles against Brevard. She was three-for-three with a double, homer and five RBI in the win over Catawba in the SAC Tournament.
2008: Myers batted .315 during her sophomore campaign with 20 RBI and five home runs. Myers’ .485 slugging percentage was the second-highest on the team. The Marietta, Ga. native finished the season with seven doubles and collected at least one hit in 31 of the games she started.
2007: Myers played in 45 games for the Bulldogs. She hit .300 with five home runs, 20 RBI, nine doubles and 25 runs scored. Myers was second on the team with 19 walks.
PERSONAL: Myers played third base and earned four letters for coach Brenda Farrell at Wheeler High School. Myers was honored as the best offensive player for three seasons and the best defensive player in her senior year. A four-year All-County selection, Myers had the highest batting average for three consecutive seasons. She also lettered three years in basketball. Myers was a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta Latin Honor Society and Science Honor Society. She was a Magnet Student and graduated with high honors. Myers played her travel ball with the Georgia Titans and was coached by Jody Bailey. Leyila is the daughter of David and Dottie Myers. A member of the the Dean’s List numerous times at Wingate, Myers is majoring in Chemistry.
