2010: As a junior, Montemurro won the clinching match as the Bulldogs defeated number 24 Anderson (S.C.) University 5-4 at Wingate. He defeated Daniel Gonzalez 6-7 (10), 6-3, 6-2. Wingate avenged a loss in the first round of the 2009 NCAA Division II play-offs with the team victory. On the season, Montemurro was 13-4 overall in singles, with a sterling 7-1 slate in the SAC. He was 12-4 at the number six singles position. In doubles, Montemurro recorded a 5-4 record. He was 5-3 with Greg Machado. Montemurro and Machado were 4-3 at the number two doubles position and 1-0 at the number one doubles spot.

2009: As a sophomore, Montemurro was 1-0 in singles action. He defeated Nathanael Summer of Lenoir-Rhyne University 6-0, 6-0 (#6 singles) on March 27.

PERSONAL: Fernando Montemurro joined the Bulldog program as a sophomore transfer. Montemurro started playing tennis when he was nine years old. He credits his father with teaching him the game.
