Biography

2012: On the courts, Ferguson had a standout regular season for conference regular season and tournament-champion Bulldogs. She compiled a 15-3 mark at the number five singles position and an 8-3 ledger at number three doubles. Ferguson was named to the Capital One Academic All-District III women’s at-large team for the second year in a row.

2011: Ferguson was MVP of the 2011 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference tournament as Wingate won the regular season and tourney titles (21-2 overall). Ferguson won 14 singles matches in a row before falling in the NCAA Division II first-round play-off match versus Clayton State University.

On the year, she compiled a 19-4 singles record. In 2011, Ferguson played a key role as Wingate put together a 19-match winning streak and qualified for the NCAA play-offs for the first time in eight years. She received the Wingate coaches’ award for 2011.

2010: Ferguson played number two singles and number one doubles for the Bulldogs as a true freshman. In doubles, she teamed with Kara Stasikelis to post an 11-8 overall record with a 5-2 South Atlantic Conference slate. All total, Ferguson had 12 victories at the number one doubles position. In singles, Ferguson earned six victories. She was named to the ITA Scholar-Athlete team.

HIGH SCHOOL: The daughter of Mark and Julie Ferguson, Kelli Ferguson played number one singles for Northwest Cabarrus High School. A four-year letter winner, Ferguson’s coach was Andy Highsmith.

A four-time team MVP, Ferguson was North Piedmont Conference Player of the Year three times and an All-Conference selection four years in a row. A team captain as a senior, she finished in the top four in the region and the top 16 in the state each year she competed for the Northwest Cabarrus Trojans.

A decorated USTA participant, Ferguson set the North Piedmont Conference individual record for most wins in a career. She lost only one NPC match in four years at Northwest Cabarrus. In addition, Ferguson and her Trojan teammates won the conference championship during her freshman and sophomore seasons. Northwest Cabarrus won the district title during Ferguson’s freshman campaign.

Ferguson was the 2009 DAR Citizen for Northwest Cabarrus High School. In addition, she was a Marshal during the 2008 commencement exercises at Northwest. She won the Yearbook Award and the Outstanding Spanish Student Award as well.
