HIGH SCHOOL: Britney Mitchell is a local product from Porter Ridge High School. In 2008-09, Mitchell led the Pirates to a 25-4 overall record (the best in the school’s brief history). She is Porter Ridge’s first college basketball signee. Mitchell played for Wingate basketball alum Ina Thompson during her PRHS career.
As a senior, Mitchell averaged 18.6 points per game and eight rebounds per game as Porter Ridge won the South Piedmont (3A) Conference championship. The league title was the first for the Pirates. 

The MVP of the Carolinas Medical Center-Union Holiday Classic, Mitchell helped Porter Ridge advance to the second round of the N.C. state play-offs in 2009 (the farthest in school history). Mitchell was an All-SPC choice and the co-Player of the Year in Union County.
