2008-09: As a team captain her junior year, Samantha Vencl displayed the leadership necessary to have a strong team. She led in workouts and in competitions, as one of Wingate’s top Backstrokers. Vencl had a third-place finish against the rival SCAD in the 200 IM and a win against Lenoir-Rhyne and King College in her 100 backstroke.

2007-08: Vencl earned all-conference honors in her second year with the Bulldogs. She helped lead the 400 Medley Relay team to the BGMC title. Vencl finished sixth in the 100 Backstroke at the BGMC Meet with a time of 1:02.38. She was eighth in the 200 Backstroke and helped guide the 800 Freestyle Relay team to a fourth-place finish in the conference meet.

2006-07: Vencl Was on the 200 Medley relay team that finished second at the BGMC Championships. She finished ninth in the conference championships in the backstroke with a time of 1:02.20. Vencl played a key role in the backstroke and IM events throughout the season, helping the team finish second in the conference and 11th in the nation.

HIGH SCHOOL: Vencl was captain of the Notre Dame Cathedral Latin swimming team in her junior and senior seasons. Vencl was a four-year letter winner for the Lions. She was a two-time All-American. In addition, Vencl was a 16-time state qualifier, nine-time All-Ohio and six-time USA sectional team. Vencl was the team MVP in her senior season. Samantha is the daughter of David and Beth Vencl.
