EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN

STADIUM ATR

 

Communication Equipment
-4 Walky Talkys (ATC, Level D, Level D, Level C)
-ATC has cell phone on his person
-Telephone located in Stadium Athletic Training Room
-Telephone Located in Stadium Weight Room

 

On Field Management
-ATC and a Level D will run onto field when an athlete goes down
-ATC does primary and secondary survey
-Level D moves athletes from scene & calm injured athlete
-A Level C will go onto the field to the numbers to look for signals
-Level Bs will get to an area where the equipment is located and look for the signal from the Level C on the numbers as to what is needed on the field
-Once signaled, Level B runs needed equipment onto field

 

Life Threatening Emergencies
-No Breathing/Difficulty Breathing
-No Pulse
-Unconsciousness
-Neck Injuries
-Sudden Illness (Heat Illness, Seizure, Diabetic Emergency, Allergic Reactions)
-Severe Bleeding

 

Activating EMS
-ATC will determine the need for activation of EMS
-Level D will use ATC’s cell phone, call 911, and speak with dispatcher
If game, doctor & Ambulance will be signaled onto field by Level D
-ATC will lead in administering care until doctor or paramedics arrive
-Both Level Bs will landmark and lead the EMS to the injured athlete
-Other Level D will secure the Emergency Card from the medical kit
-Level Cs will run onto field and assist at the direction of the ATC
-One Level C will accompany injured athlete to hospital
-ATC will document event and contact parents of athlete’s condition


Facility Concerns

-The gate from the parking lot to the field shall remain unlocked
-No vehicles shall be parked in front of the gate from the parking lot next to the stadium fieldhouse into the field
-The head football coach and ATC have keys to open the gate if it is locked (#70 key)
-Helicopters will land on the football practice field for those athletes who need to be airlifted

  

Precautions taken
-Ambulance will be on-site for all home football games
-A doctor will be on-site for all home football games
-An ATC will be on-site for all practices and games

Neck Injuries
-ATC will stabilize the head and neck with the helmet and shoulder pads on
-Level D on field will activate the EMS with ATC’s cell phone
-Levels Cs will run onto field to assist ATC
-Other Level D will secure the Emergency Card from the medical kit
-Whichever Level D completes his/her task first, then he/she will begin cutting off the facemask with the Trainer’s Angel
-Both Level Bs will landmark the area leading to the injured athlete
