Requesting a Release to Transfer
Should a current student-athlete wish to explore his/her transfer options a release/permission to contact from the Office of Compliance must be obtained by the student-athlete. In order to obtain such a release/permission to contact the student-athlete must request such from the Wingate University Office of Compliance. Prior to issuing a release/permission to contact the Office of Compliance will contact the appropriate head coach to discuss the potential of a release. It is therefore suggested that prior to the issuance of a release/permission to contact the requesting student-athlete meet with their head coach to discuss transferring. While this is suggested it is not an requirement. However, the Office of Compliance will not issue a release/permission to contact before speaking with the appropriate head coach.
Should a release/permission to contact be approved by the appropriate head coach, the Office of Compliance will give a general statement of release/permission to contact to the student-athlete. Should the student-athlete request such, a general statement of release/permission to contact will be e-mailed to the various institutions to which the student-athlete is interested in transferring.
Should a release/permission to contact be denied by the athletic department the student-athlete will be notified of such a denial by the Office of Compliance via e-mail. The notification will include information on an appeal option with direction to contact the FAR (Faculty Athletics Representative) should the student-athlete wish to appeal with decision.
