Biography
2011: Belachew was a second team All-SAC selection for the second year in a row. He ran a 27:23 8K to finish 13th in the Food Lion SAC championship meet. He ran the same time at the Bulldog Stampede, earning a sixth-place finish.
2010: Belachew competed in seven of seven events for the Bulldogs. He posted three top ten finishes on the season. He finished seventh in the Bulldog Stampede 8K race with a time of 28:32. Belachew also finished eighth in the Food Lion SAC Championship with an 8K time of 26:15. He was a second team All-SAC selection.
Personal: At Wingate, Belachew has been both a Dean’s List and President’s List student. He is a member of the Phi Eta Sigma national honor society. Belachew is a tutor in Wingate’s Academic Resource Center. He enjoys reading scientific journals.
High School: Binyam Ateka Belachew came to Wingate from Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, N.C. An honor roll student at Cardinal Gibbons, Belachew is a native of Ethiopia.
