2014: First career race as a Bulldog was the Furman 8K, where Hering finished 25th with a time of 27:07…At Charlotte Invitational, posted a faster 8K with a 26:56…Helped ‘Dogs take third at the SAC championship meet with 27:15 8K time, receiving honorable mention All-SAC for his 16th place finish…Concluded season at Southeast Regional, posting a 10K time of 35:28 (77th place)…SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll student…

High School: Mike Hering was an all-conference and all-state performer at NCHSAA powerhouse Murphy High. He was a team MVP and captain for head XC coach Ben Pipes. Hering’s top high school times include 16:29 (5K), 4:38 (mile), 2:02 (800 meters) and 0:51 (400 meters). Hering joins the Wingate family after two years at Montreat College, where he was an all-league runner for the Cavaliers. Mike is the son of Gene and Donna Hering. He has two brothers and four sisters.
