Kat Lind enters her fourth season as the head field hockey coach at Wingate in 2025. Lind was named the school's first-ever Field Hockey head coach in September of 2021. She started the program, with the first season taking place in the fall of 2022. Lind has compiled a 19-34 record through her first three seasons at Wingate, going 16-24 in league play. Lind is 41-50 in her six-year career as a head coach.
The Bulldogs piled up a program-record 13 victories during the 2024 season, going 13-6 overall and 10-4 in league play. Wingate picked up its first-ever victory over a ranked team, defeating #7 Mount Olive 1-0 at Graham Gill Field. The ‘Dogs also registered a 2-1 win at #8 Newberry. Wingate earned its first-ever bid to the SAC Tournament, defeating Converse 3-1 at home to advance to the semifinals. Rylie Cordrey was named the SAC Offensive Player of the Year, while also becoming the program’s first All-American, earning second team accolades from the NFHCA. Audra Szymborski was named the SAC Defensive Player of the Year and SAC Freshman of the Year.
The Bulldogs went 4-13 during their second season in 2023, picking up four conference victories. Wingate started the year with a 5-0 win over Coker and 4-2 victory at Belmont Abbey to begin league play 2-0. The Bulldogs added a pair of 3-1 wins against LMU.
Wingate won a pair of games in the first season in the program’s history in 2022. The Bulldogs won their first-ever game in thrilling shootout fashion at Coker, prevailing 3-2. The ‘Dogs then wrapped up the inaugural season with a dominant 7-2 win at LMU.
Lind joined Wingate after starting the Coker University Field Hockey program. Coker's first-ever season was in 2018, while just three years later, Lind led the Cobras to a conference tournament championship in the 2021 season. The Cobras went 6-2 in 2021, then knocked off Queens in the SAC title game to capture the championship. In Coker's first-ever season in 2018, Lind guided the Cobras to six wins including a 5-5 record in league play. She had a pair of all-conference players and six student-athletes named to the NCAA Division II Zag/NFHCA National Academic Squad. Lind was named the conference and Coker University Coach of the Year in 2018.
In 2019, Lind brought in the conference Freshman of the Year, as the Cobras piled up 10 wins in their second season as a program, leading into the championship season in the spring of 2021. In that championship season, the Cobras had eight student-athletes named to the National Academic Squad, while also having their first-ever NFHCA National Player of the Week.
Prior to her impressive launching of the Coker Field Hockey program, Lind was the head coach at Wells College from 2014 through 2017. In her final two seasons at Wells, Lind guided the team to a regular season title and back-to-back NEAC Tournament championships. She had six first team all-conference honorees and the league's Defensive Player of the Year, while being named the 2016 NEAC Coach of the Year.
Lind's first coaching job came at Elmira College, where she was the Field Hockey assistant coach from 2011 through 2013, while also serving one season as the Women's Lacrosse assistant coach. She then took the assistant coach position at fellow South Atlantic Conference Carolinas program Newberry College in 2013, helping the Wolves start their Field Hockey program.
Lind played Field Hockey for four years at American International College, while also spending a year on the Women's Lacrosse team. She earned her degree from American International, majoring in Business Administration and Sports and Recreation Management. Lind earned her master's degree from Elmira College.
Lind resides in South Carolina with her husband Tyler and her two children Lucas and Lila.
