Aaron Plyler missed the 2008 due to injury. Plyler was named to the 2009 pre-season All-SAC team. As a junior in 2007, he had 76 tackles. Plyler had a season-high 15 tackles (six solo) against Newberry. He had 10+ tackles four times in 2007: Tusculum, Lenoir-Rhyne, Newberry and Carson-Newman. In the TC contest, he had 14 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and one QB sack. Plyler finished 2007 with 9.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, three pass break-ups and one forced fumble. In 2006, Plyler had 26 stops (seven solo, 19 assists). He recorded 1.5 sacks and had one pass break-up and one quarterback hurry. In 2005, Plyler recorded 15 tackles (nine solo, six assists) and one sack. At Piedmont High, Plyler was All-Conference two years and All-Piedmont (named by the Charlotte Observer) one year for head coach Rusty Jester. Plyler had 255 total tackles his two seasons for Piedmont. He was voted the team’s best linebacker as a junior and team captain as a senior. His Bulldog teammates elected him a captain for the 2008 campaign. Plyler is the son of Aaron and Donna Plyler.
